I've got a Hypertherm 45 also and run a dual setup for moisture removal. Run inlet air through a Sharpe water separator and air regulator and then into the motor guard moisture filter, then up to the plasma cutter where there is a built in air regulator. Works very well on different thicknesses only need to slow down on really thick material cutting.
Don't know if it is the right way or not just what I felt would make the motor guard filter element last longer by pre separating some of the moisture out. The pressure regulator coming out of the Sharp separator was really not needed as the 45 machine has a built in regulator. I just got a good deal on the Sharpe unit with it and decided to utilize it.
